Open Positions

Dr. Imani’s research group in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Connecticut has multiple Ph.D. openings. The group develops next-generation robotic systems for manufacturing, inspection, and autonomous decision-making. Current lab platforms include autonomous mobile robots, collaborative robotic arms, industrial robots, humanoid robot, and advanced manufacturing systems. Example research topics include:

  • Physical AI and Embodied Intelligence for Robotic Manufacturing
  • Agentic AI for Robot Planning and Execution
  • Mobile Robots for Smart Manufacturing Systems
  • Robotic Inspection and In-Process Quality Intelligence
  • Cooperative Robotic Additive Manufacturing and Repair
  • Digital Twins for Robot Reasoning and Autonomy

Requirements:
Applicants should have a background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. Strong programming and mathematical modeling skills are expected. Experience with robotics, ROS2, sensing, automation, or experimental systems is a plus.
